The Mountains of the
Subcontinent
Northern Mountain
Range
In
the north of the Indian subcontinent, the Himalayan mountain ranges extend from
west to east, with a length of about 2430 km.
It consists of four major mountain ranges. Some of them come from Pakistan and the rest from India, China
and Afghanistan.
Sub-Himalayan
or Shawalak hills
This
mountain range lies to the east of the Indus River and is the southern branch
of the Himalayas, which stretches from east to west. It has an elevation of
about 900 km. It is also called the Shawalak mountain range. Its famous hills
are the Pubi Hills, south of Hazara and Murree.
Most of their western lineage in Pakistan is located in India.
The
mountain range of the Himalayas
To
the north of the Shawalak Mountains and parallel to them, this mountain range
stretches from east to west. Pir Panjal is the highest mountain range in the
range. The famous health places of this series are Murree, Ayubia, and Nathia Gali
etc. There are a lot of people here. People come from far and wide to enjoy
these places and enjoy the fun and relaxing scenery.
The
range of this range is from 1800 meters to 4600
meters. This small part of the Himalayas
is in Pakistan and the rest is in the north of India.
The
Himalayas are a mountain range

is one of the highest mountain ranges in the world. It has an average elevation
of about 6,500 meters, which is covered
with snow all year round. The beautiful valley of Kashmir is located between
Pir Panjal and the Himalayas. In this regard, there are many glaciers that add
to its beauty, the melting of which forms rivers. The famous peak of this range
is Nanga Parbat which is about 8126 meters high.
Karakoram
mountain range
To
the north of the Himalayas, the range extends from west to east along the
Karakoram-China border. The range has an average elevation of about 7,000 meters and is the second highest peak in
the world, also known as Kogodon Austin or
K-Two. Its height is 8611 meters.
The Shahraham or Karakoram Highway of Pakistan passes through this chain and
goes to China through Dara Khanjrab.

Kohistan
Hindu Kush is located in northwestern Pakistan. Most of these mountains are in
Afghanistan. Their highest peak is Trich Mir. Its height is about 7690 meters. Some mountain ranges in the south
of the northwestern mountains also come into existence in Pakistan.
The
Mountains of Swat and Chitral
There
are small mountain ranges in the south of Kohistan Hindu Kush. The height of
these mountains is from 3000 to 5000
meters. Between these mountains is the valley of Lawari which connects Chitral and Peshawar. And in winter, the
valley is closed due to snowfall. This mountain range is very beautiful.
There are also some rivers flowing here which are Swat and Chitral rivers. These rivers make these mountains more beautiful and attractive. People come here in large numbers to enjoy.
